On August 18, 2017, Louisiana Association for Justice held its annual Maritime Law Conference, High Stakes on the High Seas, at Windsor Court Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana.
United States District Judge Carl J. Barbier and Hugh Lambert kicked off the Maritime Law Conference with a presentation regarding recent developments in admiralty law, covering various topics including seaman status under the Jones Act, admiralty jurisdiction, and various issues relating to the Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act, among others.
The presentation concluded with a spirited question and answer period and discussion on admiralty law and important issues affecting seafarers in 2017.
